Andy Carr, band member of Backstreetsoul, who has also
performed with
Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) and Shakespear's Sister.
The show started
at approximately 11.15pm BST after an intro by the owner John
Pennington.
The songlist consisted of the usual
mix of mostly Eighties hits with quick bursts of a few other songs (denoted
by *):
Too Shy
Look of Love (ABC)
Rio (Duran Duran)
It Must Be Love (Labi Siffre later covered by Madness)
Karma Chameleon (Culture Club)
Brown Girl in the Ring (Boney M)*
True (Spandau Ballet)
West End Girls (Pet Shop Boys)
I Won't Let the Sun go down on me (Nik Kershaw)
Lovely Day (Bill Withers)*
Fever (Peggy Lee)
Don't You want me (Human League)
Just Can't get enough (Depeche Mode)
Tainted Love (Soft Cell)
Living Next Door to Alice (Smokie)*
Who Let the Dogs Out (Baha Men)*
NeverEnding Story
Limahl and the
band were noisily encouraged back to the
stage by the audience for an encore:
Too Shy
Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics)
A
large part of the audience danced enthusiatically throughout the
gig.
The
venue is by far the best I've been to so far, spacious with a
huge stage, loads of seating and a fab lighting system including
multicoloured laser effects. There is a chill out zone behind
the bar with bean bags and soft lighting. Unusually, the enormous
toilets are furnished with plush sofas and an ornamental pool
with live goldfish.
